That was when I saw her, a bright slash of color in dreary world. She was a girl of sixteen perhaps, dressed the same as everyone else. The layers of rags obscured her figure, but her hair and face were striking. Her lips were painted navy, and a round gem on her forehead glowed incandescent blue. Her hair was sapphire colored, highlighted with blue-green.
“What’s this?” I asked quietly, suddenly distracted.
An almost magnetic quality to her appearance compelled me to followed her as she glided through the crowds. She was incredibly graceful, and seemed completely otherworldly. As I followed her she turned into an alley that I hadn’t noticed before.
